all about houses

Cracktacular, I forgot to make an entry today again and Jared is trying to tire out Solei while selfish me types a quick entry, GAH!
No introspection here today, I have actual news to report. 2 bits, googish and really bad.
First one - bad news first, I always say. Last night some cops came by while Jared was out. When people come to my house, they ring the front gate, I get on a phone to ask who it is, and then I can either press a button that opens the gate, or come down to the gate and open the door (it's a solid piece of metal, no bars to look through) and chat with them, usually with Jared on the cell to translate for me. I went down to the gate last night and talked with them about a car that was parked in front of our house - it was a friends who was out with Jared - but it had apparently spooked the neighbors and they'd called the cops.
They're jittery, it turns out, because last week 2 men followed one of them into their home as they were returning home, and robbed the family at gunpoint.
I feel like even more of a prisoner in this huge house. It's a nice neighborhood - I thought I was safe...
The family is okay, just scared. This stuff happens in America too, all the time, but for some reason it seems scarier here.
And the other news is - we finally got an offer on our house in Atlanta. We'll see if they take our counter offer, but if they do, it's probably a good thing. The housing market is a mess, especially in that area, and it has been on the market almost 6 months already. It's good financially - it's just that the dream of just getting on a plane and curling up into my bed in my dear first little house will be shot down.
So that's the good-ish news. Does anyone have some really good news? I could take a dose or two.
