funny story and ode to a friend
September 25, 2003 at 10:58 p.m.
It's late. I'm pretty sure I have the flu. So I think I should make an entry on the off-chance that I don't wake up tomorrow morning , ever again, another young life snuffed out by the flu.
Yeah, I'm being dramatic, but I'm achey, dagnabit.
Anywho, tomorrow night I have a date with the guy I met last weekend. We had our obligatory phone call 2 two days ago and I was very offended by his reaction and then I found out that what I had said was totally on crack..... well, observe for yourself:
Me: So I have this dyslexics tudent that I'm teaching violin, and it's really had because all he does is spin around in circles.
Him: *laughing*
Me: that's not funny! It's a serious medical condition! You know, how some dyslexic people hit their heads on walls and they used to think it was bad? It turns out the rhythm makes them feel better. Well, he just spins in circles.
Him: *still laughing* I have never heard that....
Me: Well, it's serious. I mean it! Anyway, today I was feeling so sick, I couldn't teach very well because I was so dogged, I just played violin for him for a while and let him spin in circles until I got tired.
Him: *laughing like crazy* this dyslexic kid??????
Me: Yes! Now stop laughing!!!!!
sooooo later on I was talking to Loren (yes we're still friendly) and I was telling him that I was annoyed this guy was laughing at my poor dyslexic student with a disability.
Loren: My brother has dyslexia.
Me: no - he can't because he can talk and function and my student can't even speak.
Loren: Um, I mean my brother has a hard time reading. All the words are backwards.....
Me: They aren't - wait - oh wait!!! No, my student is AUTISTIC!!!!
Loren: no wonder that guy was laughing at you!!! You told him that since your student can't read, you let him spin in circles for 20 minutes!!!!
Is this as funny as I think it is?? Dude I'm weird.
Ode to an Urmi:
My Urmi dear, so is so clever,
I'm glad I get to know her better
than you.
My Urmi dear, she is so neat,
even though she's scared of people's feet.
even you.
My Urmi is so nice and pretty,
I love her more that my roomate's kitty,
(but that cat scratches and is a pest -
so honestly it's not a contest.)
But the one thing I like the most about my Urmi,
is that she listens, is thoughtful and loves me.
And that she is so fiece, and she is so gentle,
and all she touches is carefully handled.
I love her dearly - she is my soul mate outright,
and taught me all there is to know about love at first sight.
To the men that would woo her, I give this advice -
treat her like the lady she is, shower her with nice,
Let "she is my princess" be your creedo,
Or I'll come find you with my good friend Guido.
So this is what I have to share about my friend dearest,
I hope you all are so lucky to know another this amazing or at least near it....
and know she is much better than this crummy poem,
and she's also hott, I'll have you know.
