Every week I have a new reason for why things go wrong. A new cause for my angst. I refuse to believe that this perpetuates the problems. This is the horse.... I think I lost my cart.
So this week, it's white cars. Quite a few of my former confidantes have white cars. They still live around this town... I tell myself they are the losers that choose to live here for the excitement a Texas town has to offer... I, on the other hand, am here for the noble reason of scholarship money. Every time I see white cars I take a second glance and I feel a surge of first fear then a little anger as I relive the nastier pasts of the relationships in a flash. And then I see a middle aged housewife driving her 2.3 children in the white auto and try to talk some sense into my head. No chance of that:)
...I have come to distrust owners of white cars...
It's been driving me (no pun intended... well, just a tad:) nuts lately. Commuting gets more and more road-rage-y as I keep seeing white cars... White cars.... funny farm material...
So as Michelle and I were driving to Hobby Lobby today, I divulged my latest neurosis. After a moment of careful thought, she asked slowly:
"Isn't your car white?"
O MY HECK. Am I that dense??? My huge 1977 land barge - a fixture on American roads - the Love Mobile - previously known as THE WHITE WHALE. I'm driving Moby Dick, for crying out loud! And I forget my own car is white??
Maybe this is some kind of sign... I think I'm well on my way for next week's discovery...
