things only an orchestra teacher gets to hear...
May 13, 2005 at 9:37 a.m.
Things that don't usually happen to other people:
Co-teacher, coming into the office: "Pssst - 'Frshman boy'. is out there being gross - I called him in here so be surpised okay?"
Me: "okay...."
Freshman boy, sticking head in door of office: "Uh.. what do you need?"
Co-teacher: "I want you to stand here and tell her what you just yelled out in class."
Freshman boy: " ........ seriously??"
Co-teacher: "I mean it, tell her right now to her face."
Freshman boy: "We were talking about hot dogs, I swear!!"
Co-teacher: "I don't care, say it!"
Freshman boy: "Geez! uh... I said.... fourteen-inch wiener. But it was about hot dogs!!!"
Me: *tries not to laugh my brains out at him*
I will miss it. 230 of the weirdest people you've ever met, but every single one of them has meant something to me. The student who left the note in my yearbook? She wrote that she knew that I'd had hard days, but the next day I'd be back up on the podium and she respected me for it. I've read that note maybe 17 times already... it's the sweetest, best gift I could ahve asked for. I've had parents try to get me fired, I've found notes around the room of how much a kid here or there hated me, but she said I really changed her life.
I can't say how much that meant to me, I really can't. I read it over and over again. I've had so many wonderful moements this year but for some reason I remember the bad things too keenly. That note reminded me that those things just don't matter.
Best gift a girl could ask for.
SUPERCRACK.
