danger, will robinson...

He's scared me since my freshman year here, but at the same time I slightly idolize the man. He was the concertmaster (first violinist) for the Philadelphia Orchestra under Ormandy years ago. He was the conductor of the Dallas Symphony and guest of so many others.. he may be a dirty old man, but Brusillow is incredible.
I hate orchestra, but I love going to be with him as we rehearse and he shouts at us and tells the funniest stories. Still, you don't want on his bad side, nooo no.
So yesterday as Dan was tuning, he came in - which is odd because he hates hearing us tune, and told Dan off a little for not checking the nasty A the obow was giving us to tune with. Then we began rehearsing.
A few measures into the Mahler he stopped and started shouting at a trumpet player who was coming in late. He has been known to take a bit out on us when something else is bothering him, but this was terrible - he shouted at the trumpet player to come right to his face and tell him why he was late, and all the while yelling about how the string players make him furious too because they're always late and how can he get anything done.. COME HERE!
The poor trumpet player made his way to the podium and Brusillow grabbed his trumpet and flung it out into the audience!!!
He's done it - he's finally snapped...
"I'll tell you something - I'm sick and tired of you playing this way - you never care - I don't even want to deal woth it any more... and I'll tell you something else -
it's April Fool's Day."
After we realized what they'd done and allowed our heartbeats to return to non-fatal beatings, we errupted in applause. All the girls turned to each others and said "I was about to cry!!"
I really was - dude - that's the best gag I've ever seen.
SUPERCRACK is flabbergasted!
