A big shoutout to my grandpa, who is velebrating the big 9-0 today. What do you get someone who doesn't necessarily have everything, but has definately seen everything? I should give him a call, but our phone isn't working, oh shock-of-shocks.
Can you believe he was born in 1916? Australia has something like 3 WW1 vets still alive I read today. Even older than grandpa, it's unfathomable to me. He saw the country all get telephones, eventually cell phones and... wow, that's one heck of a century to have lived through, eh?
My short 27 years have seen quite a bit - cell phones the size of my head, to the size of my finger. My dad's first laptop was the size of a large briefcase, and this li'l lappy of mine fits in the diaper bag, with room left over for all the diaper stuff. And my daughter, for that matter.
So woot woot to grandpa, even though I know he doesn't read this. He's aware I exist, but my world is quite different from his. I wonder if I'll make it to 90... what I'll surround myself with then. Food for thought...
The accepted our counter offer for the house. We signed some things and the process is in the works. I wish I could see them, know who they are, and tell them all about the house we left. We changed a few things pretty drastically... and it was such a sweet house to us. A basement for me to teach in and for Jared and I to pile full of amps, amps and instruments - an office, a guest bedroom, and such a lovely kitchen - although said kitchen was a construction site for most of our year-long tenure there.
It was such a treat to have our little house, our own space. We have a big house here - but it isn't the same. I hope they're nice people. I hope they like the house like they should.
Of course, the only real home there is really is where my family is on a deep level and such. But on the surface I miss our little yellow house in Georgia. That was a great feeling of home. Ah well.
SUPERCRACK wherever the wind takes her.
